Unfortunately, although I have had a "Liberals Like Christ" site on the www in one form or another since 1996, it didn't occur to me to keep copies of the earlier versions for the historical record until the year 2009. Although the oldest backup of my own that I have been able to find was from 1999, I was delighted to learn recently of an independent archiving service called "The Wayback Machine," which has been routinely saving all kinds of web sites from as far back as 1996. I actually started my "Liberals like Christ" that year, but since it was only a part of my AOL account until 2000, Wayback didn't start saving my web sites until Oct. 17, 2000, when I registered it as an self-standing site called "JoinHugs.org". I mistakenly believed that name would be better than "LiberalslikeChrist.org" because it was shorter. But in 2002 I corrected that mistake by adopting the longer, but much more fitting name that I plan to use from now on.
The following three are what I believe to be the most significant historical snapshots of my web sites, as they demonstrate clearly that while it took years for the so-called "liberal-controlled" mainstream media to discover and then expose the incompetence, dishonesty and/or criminality of the Bush/Cheney administration, there were informed people like myself in this country and the whole world who knew long before that, when there was still time to prevent much of the tragedy that has since unfolded. Why didn't the mainstream media - with all of its resources - know and publish what an insignifcant retired preacher like me was able to learn and to publish when all I had was one computer connected to the internet?
My web pages as archived by "the Wayback Machine":
- Bushrecord page just prior to the 2000 election - Oct. 27. 2000
- My WarvsPeace page just prior to Bush starting the war. March 14, 2003
- Bushrecord page just prior to the 2004 election - Oct. 10. 2004
My own copies of the pages above (just in case they cease to be available there) :
- Bushrecord page just prior to the 2000 election - Oct. 27. 2000
- My WarvsPeace page just prior to Bush starting the war. March 14, 2003
- Bushrecord page just prior to the 2004 election - Oct. 10. 2004
I'm not publishing this to boast about myself personally, but I am providing this as proof that Americans would be wiser to follow liberals like me and Phil Donahue, whose MSNBC show was taken down because - unlike everybody else in the mainstream media - he was one of the only people trying to say on the national stage the kinds of things that liberals like me were publishing on our little known web sites, i.e. the
truth about George W. Bush and his insane, unwise, immoral war. |
