Here is an excerpt from the 1952 Republican Party Platform:
"We hold that government, and those entrusted with government, should set a high example of honesty, of justice, and unselfish devotion to the public good; (as will be exemplified by the Republican administration of George W. Bush), that they should labor to maintain tranquility at home and peace and friendship with all the nations of the earth (as will be exemplified in the great Republican administrations of Nixon, Reagan and Bush I & II !).
We assert that during the last twenty years, leaders of the Government of the United States under successive "Democratic" Administrations (of Roosevelt), and especially under this present Administration (Truman), (not to be confused with administrations such as those of Republicans Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush) have failed to perform these several basic duties; but, on the contrary, that they have evaded them, flouted them, and by a long succession of vicious acts, so undermined the foundations of our Republic as to threaten its existence.
We charge that they (as opposed to the great Republican administrations of Nixon, Reagan and Bush I & II !) have arrogantly deprived our citizens of precious liberties, by seizing powers never granted. (which Republican administrations such as those of Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush would never do!)
We charge that they work unceasingly to achieve their goal of national socialism. ("National Socialist Party" is the long name of what Americans usually referred to as "Nazi" Party for short. Republicans had to be dragged kicking and screaming into the fight against the Nazis. Many of them expressed admiration for Hitler and Mussolini, and some even mounted a coup to replace democratically elected President Roosevelt with an American Nazi. Their own Senator Prescott Bush had been one of the Nazis' most important financial backer. See http://LiberalsLikeChrist.Org/bushfamily).
We charge that they have disrupted internal tranquility by fostering class strife for venal political purposes. (How dare the poor and middle working class people complaining about tax cuts for those who need them leasts, i.e. the rich! )
We charge that they have choked opportunity and hampered progress by unnecessary and crushing taxation. (not to be confused with spending billions of dollars and taxing future generations to pay the bills).
They claim prosperity but the appearance of economic health is created by war expenditures, waste and extravagance, planned emergencies, and war crises. They have debauched our money by cutting in half the purchasing power of our dollar (not to be confused with administrations of Republican George W. Bush).
We charge that they have weakened local self-government, which is the cornerstone of the freedom of men (not to be confused with administration of Republican George W. Bush).
We charge that they have shielded traitors to the Nation in high places, and that they have created enemies abroad where we should have friends (not to be confused with Republican administrations' practice of cutting taxes and services at the national level and thereby forcing governments at the local government level to raise taxes in order to provide the necessary services).
We charge that they have violated our liberties by turning loose upon the country a swarm of arrogant bureaucrats and their agents who meddle intolerably in the lives and occupations of our citizens (not to be confused with administration of Republican George W. Bush).
We charge that there has been corruption in high places, and that examples of dishonesty and dishonor have shamed the moral standards of the American people (not to be confused with administrations of Republican George W. Bush).
We charge that they have plunged us into war in Korea without the consent of our citizens through their authorized representatives in the Congress (not to be confused with George W. Bush's war in Iraq and/or Iran), and have carried on that war without will to victory (as only HE can define it)." |
As you review the many examples below of legislation passed by liberal Democratic administrations - usually over the strenuous objections of Republicans - how many of them do you view as criminal or immoral, as the authors of this official statement of the Republican Party's beliefs did ? |
