No one who relies on the so-called "Liberal media" has even gotten an inkling of it, but in October of 2005 the unimpeachable Government Accountability Office issued a report that the presidential election of 2004 was stollen and John F. Bush began his second term with his plan to at least partially "privatize" Social Security.  When that terminology didn't go over very well, his people ran away from the term, but not the plan. After presenting his prepared statement in a "town hall meeting" at Tampa, Florida's Convention Center, on 4 February 2005, an unidentified woman in the audience whom he had failed to persuade asked, 'I don't really understand. How would your new plan fix the problem?'         George Bush's response, word for word, (as confirmed by Snopes.com) was:         "Because the - all which is on the table begins to address the big cost drivers. For example, how benefits are calculated, for example, is on the table. Whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases. There's a series of parts of the formula that are being considered. And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those - changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be - or closer delivered to that has been promised. Does that make any sense to you? It's kind of muddled. Look, there's a series of things that cause the - like, for example, benefits are calculated based upon the increase of wages, as opposed to the increase of prices. Some have suggested that we calculate - the benefits will rise based upon inflation, supposed to wage increases. There is a reform that would help solve the red if that were put into effect. In other words, how fast benefits grow, how fast the promised benefits grow, if those - if that growth is affected, it will help on the red." Doesn't that make you want to entrust the "reform" of Medicare, in addition to the "reform" of Social Security, to this man? Doesn't that make you want to entrust the "reform" of Education to this man? Doesn't that make you want to entrust "tort reform" of Judicial Law to this man? Doesn't that make you want to entrust the "security" of America to this man? Doesn't that make you want to entrust the emergency management of natural and/or man made disasters to this man? Doesn't that make you feel confident that if there is a world-wide epidemic that you or your loved ones won't be among the millions that could die in that epidemic? Doesn't that make you feel confident that the phenomenal budget deficit that this man has already saddled our country with wont cause a collapse of our economy?         After five years of defending Bush, the Los Angeles Conservative KABC Talk Show host, Doug McIntyre has concluded that "George W. I'm not executing any more damn women.  That last one was getting telegrams from as far away as Bolivia,' Bush complained.  'What the damn Bolivians or anyone else in Europe know about law and order in Texas I can't imagine.'       The aide reassured him, 'Both prisoners are male, Governor.  One's black and one's Hispanic.  Nothing out of the ordinary.'       Pacified, Bush nodded.  'That's okay then,' he said.  In an instant the aide retrieved the signed warrants and was gone."         United Methodist Bishop Joe A. Wilson of Fort Worth, Texas, who along with other clergy in the region made a public stand against the death penalty in the Lone Star State after Dubya refused to call off the execution of that "woman"�Karla Faye Tucker�issued a public letter to his fellow Methodist in February of last year, pleading with the Texas governor for a moratorium on capital punishment.  (Because of the significant number of wrongful prosecutions, Illinois Gov. George Ryan had recently taken the unprecedented step of putting all executions on hold pending a review of the death-penalty system, which he said was "fraught with error.")         "I continue to be dismayed by the number of executions being performed in the state of Texas," Bishop Wilson wrote to Dubya.  "As a United Methodist, I hope you will consider seriously the stand of your church on the death penalty.  Since 1972, the United Methodist Church has been opposed to capital punishment and has urged its elimination from all criminal codes.         "My intent as an episcopal leader of your church, is to appeal to your sense of fair justice and Christian conscience ." With that, Wilson urged Dubya to "please put a moratorium on the executions in the state of Texas.  Something much more is at stake than political positioning.  Human life, which only God has created and has the right to end, is the primary issue.  I believe that the use of the death penalty by the state will increase the acceptance of revenge in our society and will give official sanction to a climate of violence."         Bishop Wilson didn't even receive the courtesy of a response from Dubya.  "The attitude in Texas is 'kill 'em,' " the Methodist leader reluctantly admitted.  "That attitude is hard to overcome."         See a beautiful site comparing George W. Speaking of V.P. Cheney, who was the Chief Executive Office at Halliburton from 1995 thru 1999, Arianna Huffington (the one time Republican commentator) reported on her web site ( 8/5/02 ) :Vice President of Corporate Greed        ' During the number two's time as the company's number one, the number of Halliburton subsidiaries registered in tax-friendly locations ballooned from nine in 1995 to 44 in 1999.  The result?  A dramatic drop in Halliburton's federal taxes, which fell from $302 million in 1998 to less than zero - to wit, an $85 million rebate - in 1999.          At the same time they were hard at work stiffing U.S. taxpayers, Cheney and Halliburton were happily feasting at the public trough - the company received $2.3 billion in government contracts and another $1.5 billion in government financing and loan guarantees.  During the vice-presidential debate, Cheney scored points responding to a Joe Lieberman zinger about the millions Cheney had made during the Clinton-Gore years by boasting that "the government had absolutely nothing to do" with his burgeoning bank account.  Only someone fully immersed in the corporate culture of our day could view $3.8 billion as "absolutely nothing."         Shortly before the 2004 election, NASCAR celebrity Darrell Waltrip explained why people like himself support Bush, by saying that he wasn't "an issues guy", but that he'd been impressed by Bush's handshake.

Here's the story of decades of America's dirty dealings with Iraq's Saddam Hussein.         In Secretary of State Colin Powell's autobiography, My American Journey, he wrote, "I am angry that so many of the sons of the powerful and well-placed managed to wangle slots in the Army Reserve and National Guard units. . .  Of the many tragedies of Vietnam, this raw class discrimination strikes me as the most damaging to the ideal that all Americans are created equal and owe equal allegiance to their country. . .         As a Purple Heart veteran and former infantryman in South Korea in 1950 with orders to "hold or die," I assure you that no Vietnam War coward who makes it to the White House and the title "Mr. President" will ever have my respect, let alone honor." He blocked health care for kids and vetoed a patient's bill of rights.  He protected hate criminals, and let corporate criminals poison the air and water.  Texas education is a disaster, and the surplus Bush found is gone. Bush messed up Texas, and was already well on his way to messing up the USA on 9/11.         Bush should never have been sworn in, just sworn at.  He lost the election to Al Gore nationwide.  Bush cheated and broke laws in the state where his brother was governor, and still lost by 10,000s of votes.  Bush lost, and ran to the federal courts to throw out States' Rights.  He said he trusted the people, but when the people elected Gore, Bush sued the people.         After stealing office, Bush ordered the FBI to "back off" bin Laden's brothers and other Saudi terrorists to protect his dad's big money deals with the Carlyle Group.  He stuck his thumb in the eyes of friends and foes alike with his ludicrous and childish repudiation of our responsibilities as the most powerful nation in history.         On 9/11, he hid in a hole and made up lies for why he hid while Hillary and others stepped up at Ground Zero.  Since then, he's abused the terror attacks for narrow partisan political gains, huge gifts for his friends and benefactors, and a war on our freedoms.  He bungled every menial PR task assigned to him, and clearly is not in charge.  He did all this because he has no morals, no ethics, no class, no brains, no skills, and no love for America.  That says it all." for a lot MORE great material like this, check out the great www.mikehersh.com web site.

Congressional Report on 237 "misleading statements" made by the Bush administration about its Iraq War : Summary of the findings: Number of Misleading Statements.         The Iraq on the Record database contains 237 misleading statements about the threat posed by Iraq that were made by President Bush, Vice President Cheney, Secretary Rumsfeld, Secretary Powell, and National Security Advisor Rice. These statements were made in 125 separate appearances, consisting of 40 speeches, 26 press conferences and briefings, 53 interviews, 4 written statements, and 2 congressional testimonies. Most of the statements in the database were misleading because they expressed certainty where none existed or failed to acknowledge the doubts of intelligence officials. Ten of the statements were simply false. Timing of the Statements.         The statements began at least a year before the commencement of hostilities in Iraq, when Vice President Cheney stated on March 17, 2002: �We know they have biological and chemical weapons.� The Administration�s misleading statements continued through January 22, 2004, when Vice President Cheney insisted: �there�s overwhelming evidence that there was a connection between al-Qaeda and the Iraqi government.� Most of the misleading statements about Iraq � 161 statements � were made prior to the start of the war. But 76 misleading statements were made by the five Administration officials after the start of the war to justify the decision to go to war.         The 30-day period with the greatest number of misleading statements was the period before the congressional vote on the Iraq war resolution. Congress voted on the measure on October 10 and October 11, 2002. From September 8 through October 8, 2002, the five officials made 64 misleading statements in 16 public appearances. A large number of misleading statements were also made during the two months before the war began. Between January 19 and March 19, 2003, the five officials made 48 misleading statements in 26 public appearances. Topics of the Statements.         The 237 misleading statements can be divided into four categories. The five officials made 11 statements that claimed that Iraq posed an urgent threat; 81 statements that exaggerated Iraq�s nuclear activities; 84 statements that overstated Iraq�s chemical and biological weapons capabilities; and 61 statements that misrepresented Iraq�s ties to al Qaeda. Statements by President Bush. Between September 12, 2002, and July 17, 2003, President Bush made 55 misleading statements about the threat posed by Iraq in 27 separate public appearances. Published on Thursday, November 28, 2002 by the Toronto Star Bush Anything But Moronic, According to Author Dark Overtones in His Malapropisms by Murray Whyte         When Mark Crispin Miller first set out to write Dyslexicon: Observations on a National Disorder, about the ever-growing catalogue of President George W. Bush's verbal gaffes, he meant it for a laugh.  But what he came to realize wasn't entirely amusing.        Since the 2000 presidential campaign, Miller has been compiling his own collection of Bush-isms, which have revealed, he says, a disquieting truth about what lurks behind the cock-eyed leer of the leader of the free world.  He's not a moron at all - on that point, Miller and Prime Minister Jean Chr�tien agree.        But according to Miller, he's no friend.        "I did initially intend it to be a funny book.  But that was before I had a chance to read through all the transcripts," Miller, an American author and a professor of culture and communication at New York University, said recently in Toronto.        "Bush is not an imbecile.  He's not a puppet.  I think that Bush is a sociopathic personality.  I think he's incapable of empathy.  He has an inordinate sense of his own entitlement, and he's a very skilled manipulator.  And in all the snickering about his alleged idiocy, this is what a lot of people miss."         Miller's judgment, that the president might suffer from a bona fide personality disorder, almost makes one long for the less menacing notion currently making the rounds: that the White House's current occupant is, in fact, simply an idiot.        If only.  Miller's rendering of the president is bleaker than that. In studying Bush's various adventures in oration, he started to see a pattern emerging.        "He has no trouble speaking off the cuff when he's speaking punitively, when he's talking about violence, when he's talking about revenge.        "When he struts and thumps his chest, his syntax and grammar are fine," Miller said. "It's only when he leaps into the wild blue yonder of compassion, or idealism, or altruism, that he makes these hilarious mistakes."         While Miller's book has been praised for its "eloquence" and "playful use of language,"  it has enraged Bush supporters. Bush's ascent in the eyes of many Americans - his approval rating hovers at near 80 percent - was the direct result of tough talk following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.  In those speeches, Bush stumbled not at all; his language of retribution was clear. It was a sharp contrast to the pre-9/11 George W. Bush.  Even before the Supreme Court in 2001 had to intervene and rule on recounts in Florida after a contentious presidential election, a corps of journalists were salivating at the prospect: a bafflingly inarticulate man in a position of power not seen since vice-president Dan Quayle rode shotgun on George H.W. Bush's one term in office.        But equating Bush's malapropisms with Quayle's inability to spell "potato" is a dangerous assumption, Miller says. At a public address in Nashville, Tenn., in September, Bush provided one of his most memorable stumbles.  Trying to give strength to his case that Saddam Hussein had already deceived the West concerning his store of weapons, Bush was scripted to offer an old saying: "Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me."  What came out was the following:  "Fool me once, shame on. . .  shame on you.  Er, fool. . . Uh, can't get fooled again."         Played for laughs everywhere, Miller saw a darkness underlying the gaffe.  "There's an episode of Happy Days, where The Fonz has to say, `I'm sorry' and can't do it.  Same thing," Miller said.        "What's revealing about this is that Bush could not say, `Shame on me' to save his life.  That's a completely alien idea to him. This is a guy who is absolutely proud of his own inflexibility and rectitude."         If what Miller says is true - and it would take more than just observations to prove it - then Bush has achieved an astounding goal. By stumbling blithely along, he has been able to push his image as "just folks" - a normal guy who screws up just like the rest of us.        This, in fact, is a central cog in his image-making machine, Miller says: Portraying the wealthy scion of one of America's most powerful families as a regular, imperfect Joe. But the depiction, Miller says, is also remarkable for what it hides - imperfect, yes, but also detached, wealthy and unable to identify with the "folks" he's been designed to appeal to. An example, Miller says, surfaced early in his presidential tenure. "I know how hard it is to put food on your family,"        Bush was quoted as saying.  "That wasn't because he's so stupid that he doesn't know how to say, `Put food on your family's table' - it's because he doesn't care about people who can't put food on the table," Miller says.        So, when Bush is envisioning "a foreign-handed foreign policy," or observes on some point that "it's not the way that America is all about," Miller contends it's because he can't keep his focus on things that mean nothing to him. "When he tries to talk about what this country stands for, or about democracy, he can't do it," he said.        This, then, is why he's so closely watched by his handlers, Miller says - not because he'll say something stupid, but because he'll overindulge in the language of violence and punishment at which he excels.        "He's a very angry guy, a hostile guy.  He's much like Nixon. So they're very, very careful to choreograph every move he makes. They don't want him anywhere near protestors, because he would lose his temper."         Miller, without question, is a man with a mission - and laughter isn't it.
